Everyday I come across a word in my reading that makes me say, "Hmm." These words are usually not readily familiar to me and they cause a bit more contemplation before I move on. From time to time I would like to share a word or two with you. So, the Word for Today is:

To quibble about; detect petty flaws in.

Very helpful! I've had a habit for a couple years now of collecting words and phrases that authors use that are new or striking to me. Your use of the word with the Spurgeon quote... very helpful. thanks for improving my vocabulary this morning!
