A Dream Deferred

Langston Hughes once asked the question,

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Sadly we are seeing it as the children of Martin Luther King, Jr take to the courts to settle their squabbles over money. In the house of Dr. King it would seem that the dream is drying up like a raisin in the sun.

Whatever happened to 1 Corinthians 6?

Wow. That's a lot of money.

Are they professing Christians?

Incidentally, I just bought the movie by that title from the "previously viewed" bin at the movie store.

I'm even more stoked to watch it now.

Gunny,
Are you talking about "A Raisin in the Sun"? If so, you will not be disappointed. I am a Sidney Poitier fan, and I do believe that A Raisin in the Sun is his best. Enjoy!

That's the one!

Oddly enough, we also got "First Sunday" and so I got to see the preview for "Raisin in the Sun."

I was a little skeptical wondering about Puff Daddy's acting prowess, but I'm a Felicia Rashaad fan. Sidney Poitier is a tough act to follow, but I appreciate the affirmation in the movie choice.

(Truth be told, my wife picked them out, however, so I can't take the credit.)

The Sean Combs version should be removed from the "previously viewed" section and placed in the "view no more" category. There is no substitute for Mr. Poitier.

Eventhough, Danny Glover does do a pretty good Walter Lee in the stage production.
