God the Gentleman?

Here is a quote I came across today at a blog by a worship leader:

"God is always a gentleman. He never comes into a heart uninvited, and never takes over a life without being asked."

After reading it I could not help but think that someone forgot to tell Jonah this. Also, neither was Apostle Paul reminded of this so-called truth. In fact, when I think of my own life, if God had waited on me, I never would have known who He is. Thank God once again that He is not subject to human sentiments of chivalry.

What is funny is that if this were the case we would all be in Hell. God always shows up uninvited. I have never saw a dead man invite someone to his funeral and then asked to be raised. My opinion anyway, with a slew of scriptures to assist in the developing of such an opinion. By the way I sent you an email about a brother who I think can use your help. God bless and take care

This quote--without question--is my favorite false statement in all of Christian jargon. People who make this declaration should realize that it is pretty hard for a human being to give permission to God when you're in a spiritually dead state (Ephesians 2:1)!

I think about Paul every time I hear that, which is more often than I'd wish.

I enjoy your blog.

Yeah, I use to say this back in the day, some of us use to say God is not like a cosmic rapist, He dose not force his will on anyone. I but thank God that I have grown a little in spiritual wisdom and revelation since then...

Along with Jonah I would also add King Nebuchadnezzar; His story blows the above notion out of the water.
God caused King Neb to go crazy and act like a wild beast, because he did not adhere to God's warnings about his pride and his attempt to steal God's Glory. Only God could allow him enough sense to repent and be restored, what a great OT example of God's Grace and Mercy.
